 Our Aims and Objectives Ghana Canada House Inc

  • To serve as a mouthpiece and representative body for Ghanaian, African and other immigrant communities in Montreal interested in our objective and to help new immigrants settle properly in the community.
  • To provide information to Ghanaian, African and other immigrant communities to know about the opportunities and facilities that are available to them as permanent residents and citizens of Canada, such as access to loans, grants, legal aid services, mediation and consciliation, etc;
  • To promote the recognition of various African cultures as a constituent part of the mosaic of cultures in Quebec and in the Canadian society as a whole and showcase them as a way to tourism in Quebec and Canada;
  • To forge co-operation between African and other communities in Quebec and Canada as a whole for purposes of cultural exchange, educational and development assistance;
  • To serve as a resource centre and/or clearing house for Canadian governmental and non-governmental organisations interested in promoting development and human rights in Ghana and other underdeveloped countries;
  • To serve as a source of information on political developments in Ghana and Africa, such as the human rights situation and its relationship to aid disbursement;
  • To offer advice, guidance and support to Ghanaians, Africans and Canadians who are interested in promoting trade in Africa;
  • To help reduce and prevent crime among the Ghanaians and other immigrant communities in Montreal through organisation of workshops to raise public awareness about the communities’ civic responsibilities;
  • To work towards setting up a community centre for the organisation of cultural activities and ceremonies that are peculiar to the African community and cannot be held in the mainstream centres de loisir with the aim of providing an avenue for the youth to engage in useful activities that will help channel their energies towards constructive goals;
  • To find appropriate cultural media to educate the Ghanaian and other immigrant communities about the Canadian idea of rights and how to make effective use of them.
